Overview of the ASX14

The Amana ASX 14 is a single-speed air conditioner with an efficiency rating of up to 15 SEER.

The ASX 14 features a heavy-gauge galvanized steel louvered cabinet. It is coated with a post-paint finish that makes it resistant to weather damage. The cabinet is designed with both top and side access panels to allow for easy maintenance, and the filter dryer is factory-installed for operational longevity. A PVC-coated wire grill protects the fan and motor.

This line of air conditioner has a single-speed condenser fan motor. It employs Smart Coil condensing coils with aluminum fins and copper tubing. It also is equipped with Copeland Comfort Alert Diagnostics, which detect the cause of problems and relay the information to technicians via LED indicator flash codes. The high-efficiency Copeland scroll compressor is covered by a sound control top of high density foam.

"Would not recommend"
I paid way too much for this unit. I got the unit through Covert Aire, they recommended this model to keep my rental unit that is only 1250 square feet cool. I purchased the unit in 8/2013 along with a 10-year warranty. It stopped working at 10:30 last night. I was told by the tenants that it fails to keep the small unit cool when the temperature goes over 90. It will only cool to 80 degrees. Would not recommend Amana.

"Good quality unit"
I've been a contractor for over 16 years and have installed and serviced all the major brands. Amana has been the least problematic unit over the years. I know you all have heard this 100 times but installation is key! You can buy the most expensive, highest SEER rated AC, but if it's not put in properly it will fail. My warranties on Amana are far less than the big name brands. Parts are easy to find when needed and when the system is out of warranty the parts don't cost an arm and a leg. They're basic units and not over engineered, which I love as a service tech. I have an 8 year track record with them and probably hundreds installed and have great luck with them!

"I Have 2 ASX14 Seer Amana Systems"
I have 2 ASX14 seer Amana systems in my home. They are great! Much better than the Trane- junk they took out. My electric bill also went down almost half! I had my contractor Triskele management 732-709-7770. They have installed my house and 3 of my friends' house here in New Jersey. The contractor knowledge has a lot to do with it. Not the equipment. "Very Happy with Purchase"
Spent $7,500 for my 14 seer unit and everything has been great. I know it seems that so many reviews said this was bad equipment, but I have had zero issues since 2010. Amazing how everyone goes with the cheapest installed price and then claims the equipment is bad. Pick you installer correct and the equipment runs great!

"Best Warranties Available."
The best warranties in the industry! The product is great but of course the installation is key. We replaced a nearly 27 year old Amana Air Conditioner and if we live long enough we'll buy another Amana.

"Very Pleased Customer"
My wife and I purchased an 14 seer Amana ac and 95% Furnace and we couldn't be happier with our choice. We were told by other contractors that the equipment was no good, but we have saved 30% on our energy bills with no breakdowns. I would definitely tell others to buy Amana equipment.

" ASPF426016"
The motor in the attic unit died after 2 years. Cost to fix.. &800.00 for labor. The refrigerant half gone after 4 years $350.00 to recharge. Tell me what is the purpose of yearly maintenance on this garbage unit? Would never recommend to anyone despite the warranty, because you will surely be using it and the costs will still add up. It's great that I save on my electric bill so I could pay that money for repairs instead!

"DON'T Buy, This is JUNK"
I have had problems with my unit every year. I keep it in great shape and there is problem after problem. Warranty is terrible. They do not pay for labor, only to replace parts, but there are huge labor expenses to detect the problem each time. Do not buy this unit. It is junk.

"2 Amana units in my new home that have broken now for the 3rd time"
In less than 2 years, we have changed the coils in both units of the house in the attic. Had a leak day one of the purchase of the house, another leak, last summer and this summer, both units went out. Coils in attic rusted within one year and the other within 18 months of the purchase of the house. Now, the big unit for the main part of the house is out. Coils outside are now no good. Compressor spit oil all over. They only want to replace the coils. This unit was the first to have a leak day one of the sale of this new home to me. I would never ever buy nor recommend an Amana to anyone. We always had Trane at our other homes and never once encountered a problem in the 9 years I owned one house and the 6 I have owned my condo. Amana sucks and particularly Capital a/c who intalled the units in the new house and has done the return work on them since buying this house.

"Great Product, Great Warranty. Pick the right Company to install it!!!!!"
The most important choice when you buy a new air conditioner is the company not the brand!!!! Even the over priced Tranes will have tons of trouble if not installed by a good company that follows all the procedures. If a load calculation is not the first thing a contractor does before he gives you a price...MOVE On. you get what you pay for! I had an Energi Air (Amana) split gas system asx1436 with 80% furnace by a good company and have been nothing but satisfied. They were about $1500 higher than my other bids but again, you get what you pay for. I have 10 years parts and labor with this company, and found out through the load calculation they performed on my home that I needed a 3 ton system and not the 2.5 ton that I had. All the other "professionals" with the cheaper priced product quoted me a 2.5 ton, offered only 1 year labor, and did not do a load calculation. It was worth every penny I spent. choose the right company, not the brand.

"Hot Summer? Not in my house"
I can't believe what I just read about how bad Amana units are because I know better. This is my third summer with my new asx14 a/c unit with a amh95 gas furnace and I can't tell you enough how great it is. So quiet and energy efficient. Its over 103 degrees outside and my control is reading 73 inside. I am fully convinced that not only choosing the right equipment but also the installation is just as important with a quality installed duct system. The quotes that I received were thousands difference. But I read ever estimate carefully. I found a very detailed contractor that put everything in writing. His price was upper middle but I felt confident with them. The low price estimates had no details at all. When I ask for them to put more details in writing they just said "Trust me im the air conditioning man" I figured cheap price cheap job? I am retired now and don't have the extra money to waste. Do it right the first time. I feel that I got what I paid for.

Other ASX14 Reviews

On other HVAC discussion boards, the warranty of the Amana ASX 14 is applauded by technicians, one of whom writes on hvac-talk.com: "We believe that this maybe the best warranty in the air conditioning business." The homeowner who is pricing various systems and their warranties points out the cost of the labor warranty for the Amana was a fraction of the cost of the same warranty on another brand.

ASX14 Warranty

The Amana ASX 14 is covered by a 10-year parts limited warranty. Registration must be completed within 60 days of installation in order to receive maximum warranty coverage.
