Payne was founded in 1914 and in 1945 formed Affiliated Gas Equipment, Inc. (AGE)
with companies Day & Night and Bryant.
Carrier bought AGE in 1955, and then
made Payne the 'P' in the BDP Company, which it formed in 1974. Payne separated
from BDP in 1996 to form Payne Heating & Cooling, but continues to be owned by
Carrier.

Payne offers two lines of 80% efficient gas furnaces, the PG8M & PG8J. Their high
efficiency gas furnaces product line is known as the PG9M, which runs at up to 92.1%
AFUE.
