Corporate History
American Standard was founded in 1929 from the merger of American Radiator (founded in 1892) and
Standard Sanitary. American Standard Companies, Inc was renamed Trane, Inc in 2007, and sold to
Ingersoll-Rand in 2008.
At the end of 2002, American Standard Companies, Inc had approximately 25,600 employees
in their HVAC divisions. They had 29 manufacturing plants in 9 countries.
