Rinnai specializes in tankless water heaters for commercial and residential settings. Although hot water is sometimes taken for granted in the home-when a heater fails and the showers are cold, the laundry is dirty, or the dishes need to be washed, the importance of a fully functioning and reliable water heater becomes clear.

History of Rinnai

Rinnai Japan was founded in 1920 by two men who manufactured and sold pressurized oil cooking stoves. In the 1930s, Hidejiro Naito and Kanekichi Hayashi expanded into the gas appliance business with cooking stoves, ranges, space heaters, and water heaters.

The company entered the North American market in 1974 with spa heaters. It now offers tankless water heaters, direct vent wall furnaces, fireplaces, portable cook tops, and commercial grade rice cookers.

Energy Efficiency of Rinnai Water Heaters

Rinnai offers 22 tankless water heaters that meet ENERGYSTAR ratings. They are available in propane or natural gas versions with recovery efficiencies of 82 to 94 percent. They use between 176 and 200 gallons of propane gas a year.

Warranty

All Rinnai tankless water heaters come with a 5-year limited warranty covering manufacturer's defects in materials or workmanship. Heat exchanger performance is warranted for an additional seven years for a total of twelve. Warranties are not transferable to the new owners when the house is sold.
