As the third most energy-consuming appliance in the home (after heating-air-conditioning units and kitchen appliances), homeowners spend somewhere between $400 and $600 per year on heating water. Paloma water heaters are distributed by Low Energy Systems, Inc., of Denver, Colorado. The company, founded in 1977, distributes residential and commercial tankless water heaters as well as gas heating appliances. The company also distributes the line of Takagi tankless water heaters.
Energy Efficiency of Paloma Water Heaters
The U.S. Department of Energy's ENERGY STAR information states that "most Americans have conventional water heaters that are barely more efficient than ones sold 20 years ago." Newer models can cut energy costs by up to 50 percent depending on the technology used. Paloma offers 59 models of tankless water heaters using either propane or natural gas that qualify for the ENERGY STAR rating.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance of your tankless water heater can extend the unit's life and ensure you don't lose some of its energy efficiency. Owner's manuals provided by Paloma recommend that the water filter and the air-intake filter be cleaned, and that the venting system, burner(s), and the condensate trap be inspected. The unit should also be regularly checked by a certified service technician.
Warranty
Paloma water heaters purchased after July 2008 come with a five-year warranty on the heat exchanger, a five-year warranty on parts, and a one-year warranty on service.
