Bosch Water Heaters is a subsidiary of the Bosch Group, a German company that generates over 45 billion dollars in sales revenue across its 275 subsidiaries. When it comes to water heaters, Bosch's most unique offering to the US market is the Energy-Star ranked tankless water heater system. Bosch is committed to providing energy efficient appliances with long lifespans, ranging up to 20 years.
Bosch's History
Bosch was created in 1886 by namesake Robert Bosch. The company is registered as a GmbH in Germany, where it is headquartered. GmbH is the German equivalent to Limited Liability Corporation. The company sells more automobile parts than any other supplier in the world which provides sixty percent of its business. The other forty percent is made up in consumer products and industrial technology. Bosch employs close to half a million people worldwide, with the largest amount of employees located in Germany. The US base of operations is Broadview, Illinois.
Product Lines
Bosch water heaters are tankless, which means they do not store heated water like traditional water heaters. Instead, the heating mechanism inside the Bosch system instantly heats the water as it passes through. The result is lower energy usage because no energy is required to maintain the hot temperature in a water tank.
Bosch water heaters are available in gas and electric. In gas:
- 2700ES: An ENERGY STAR rated water heater that saves up to 50% on utility costs.
- 2400ES: An ENERGY STAR rated water heater that heats two sources of water at the same time.
- AquaStar Model 1600H: This water heater contains a hydro-generated ignition system that works without an electricity source and without the use of a battery.
- AquaStar Model 1600P: One of the most popular water heater that saves users up to $190 per year.
- 1600PS:This tankless heater is used as a backup system for water heated by sun power or wood stoves.
- 125 Series: This series heats one source of water at a timeand comes with a 12-year warranty.
In electric:
- PowerStar AE125: This model heats water up to 115°F and provides hot water up to up to 3.7 gallons per minute.
- PowerStar AE115L: This model heats water up to 115°F and provides up to 2.3 gallons per minute. It can heat one sink or dishwasher, but not at the same time.

Bosch Company's Warranty
Warranty details vary according to the model. In the AquaStar line, for example, the heat exchanger is guaranteed for 12 years and all other parts are covered for five years. The electric PowerStar line enjoys a ten-year guarantee against leakage on the heat exchanger and a one-year warranty on all other parts.
