"19 Years"
Installed the unit in June of 1994 and it just started leaking at the drain valve because the water softener serviceman thought he would drain some water out. He thought he was helping. So the unit would probably still be going fine.

"A review of the A.O. Smith Water Heater"
I've owned this water heater for going on a year now. This model heats the water very quickly and allows for a good amount of heated water. I don't have anything in particular that I dislike about it. I think next time I'll buy a larger water heater. I have yet to repair or replace it. I would probably buy the same brand again seeing as I've had no issues with it. I'm not sure if I would recommend it or not. It's a rather expensive item to recommend and I would feel bad if a friend or family member had a completely different experience with this model.

"A good, durable beast of a heater"
We have owned our A.O. Smith water heater for four years, as it was installed during our home remodel/expansion. Our plumber recommended this water heater to us over a tankless system. In the time we have owned it, we have never had any problems with it. The heater has a 74 gallon capacity, and we have never run out of hot water - even when there were 11 people taking showers back-to-back (in two different showers). This large beast sits quietly (for the most part) in our basement. It is a large tank (more than 24 inches in diameter), but it must be well insulated because the outside surface is not at all warm to the touch. The noise its gas burners make is minimal and rarely heard. I do notice it heating up water even when no hot water is being used in the house, but that heating period only lasts a minute or two. I thing I wish were better is the temperature controller. Since the device it electronic, I thought it could give an actual temperature instead of just having hotter and colder arrows. In short, this water heater has served us well. I would recommend it.

"AO Smith Water Heater Review"
This was the water heater in the house I bought about 2 years ago. Initially, I was considering upgrading it to a tankless model, but decided to give this one a fair try first. We are a family of 5 (Mom, Dad, and 3 boys), and 2 of the boys were recent additions. We had also had a 40 gallon unit at our previous residence, and we found we were constantly running out of water. When we moved and had two additions to the family, we thought for sure we'd need something tankless or bigger, but this unit has been adequate. On most evenings, we can do dishes and give everyone a bath/shower. This heater is 7 years old, and it does not appear to have ever been repaired. I would buy the same brand again, as this 40 gallon unit seems to outperform our previous 40 gallon unit. The only downside is that, when all are bathed and dished are done, usually the last person to shower will get a bit of a cold one at the end. If I had to replace this, I most certainly would go tankless, but for what it is we have been surprised by it's performance.

"We trust our plumber: He recommended the A O Smith Pro Max"
When our old 25 gallon gas water heater needed to be replaced, I called our plumber. He recommended we replace with Pro Max. He assured us we were choosing the "best." Indeed we have been pleased. Mr. C also suggested we install a 50 gallon heater to guarantee hot water would always be available. The heater was delivered and installed that afternoon over six years ago. Everything about the Pro Max has met our expectations. It is energy efficient and the recovery time for hot water is less than 40 minutes. The controls are easily accessible, enabling us to regulate the temperature as needed or to lower the temperature when we are away. Also the operation is very quiet. In our yearly home inspection, the Pro Max passes with flying colors. Should we ever need to replace, I will choose a Pro Max. I can recommend it as highly as did Mr. C.

"Great Water Heater"
I own the Vertex GPHe50 water Heater, I have owned the unit for 6 months now and I am happy to say that I am very pleased with the Unit; it is quite and delivers a large amount of seemingly never ending hot water. I could have gone with a cheaper unit, but being as energy efficient as this unit is, it more than makes up for the extra price I have had to pay for the unit. It was an easy installation process, I was able to move the unit to the side of the house that actually required hot water, the water is always hot, and with the big 50 gallon tank I never have to worry about waiting on the tank to fill up to do my business. And my wife loves the unit, so I guess it goes without saying, no more cold showers for me, that's for sure.

Review:
"Great Water Heater For A House Of Four"
Our current water heater was installed about a year ago, as our last one sounded like it was about to blow. We live in an area with very hard water, so our water heaters last about 8 years max, even with a water softener. This new water heater heats the water quickly and barely makes a sound while it's filling or heating. The only thing I've noticed, since we bought it, is our gas bill has gone up quite a bit. Now, before I blame this on the water heater, I must say that it could be due to the fact that our old water heater wasn't heating our water beyond luke warm temperatures. This water heater makes the water really hot, so we've turned the thermostat down. It may be that we need to turn it down even further, to help lower the cost of gas. Plus, the cost of natural gas has gone up anyway, so it could be unrelated. Only time will tell. I would recommend this brand, as it heats water quickly and provides enough hot water for a family of four. We can get in 2-3 showers, or 2 showers with the dishwasher going at the same time, without having to wait for the water heater to fill and re-heat the water. Nobody has experienced a cold shower yet. So far, I am happy with this water heater, and as long as it holds out at least 8 years or longer, I would buy it again.

"My Water Heater Review"
I have owned my electric water heater since I purchased my home in August, 2009. My house was brand new when I purchased it, so the water heater was brand new as well. I like my water heater because it is very efficient and reliable. I have never had any issues with water heater. That could be that it is quite new still. My water heater had a great temperature control system and it can put it to any temperature I want it at. It also is a fairly large unit. We are able to take fairly long showers without running out of hot water. Typically I am able to run the dishwasher and take a shower with no issues of running out of hot water. I have never had to fix or replace anything on my hot water heater, so I do not have any reason to dislike it. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family looking for a new water heater and I would use the same brand again.

Review:
"A O SMITH VERTEX WATER HEATER "AMAZING""
I would recommend this unit to anyone. This is not your normal storage tank type water heater. The exhaust does not travel straight through the tank to the flue, instead it twist through the tank like a corkscrew giving up all its heat and requires a exhaust fan to remove the exhaust gases. The initial cost when compared to a tank-less system that would provide an equivalent supply of hot water the Vertex is by far cheaper. I cannot compare operating costs, not having any experience with a tankless system, but published information would put costs of tank-less as much or more than what I am experincing. The cons are; the installation, mine was done by an installer that was possibly 3 yrs. in the profession and an apprentice that shouldn't have been. Also I think our hot water use has gone up, now that we never run out people are less conscience of usage. This heater is worth looking at. I am very pleased with it.
