"Good Looking Efficient Heater"
Our family loves our Chicago Electric Fireplace Heater. It has two power settings of 750 or 1500 watts and on the maximum setting it really puts out the heat. We purchased this heater 3 years ago and it has been a real money saver for us. Our heating oil bill has been reduced significantly by only running the furnace at night and using this little Chicago heater through the day. Our home is not particularly well insulated yet this heater has proven sufficient to ward off the chill in all but the coldest days. Unlike most electric space heaters, this one is actually very attractive. It has a see through glass door and illuminated fake logs that appear to be burning. Our young kids really enjoy this feature and often pretend to be roasting marshmallows over the fire. It also casts a nice glow in the room at night with the lights off. It almost feels like a real fireplace in the house without the smoke. As far as safety goes, it is designed well to prevent burns. The heat actually originates from the bottom of the heater and the heat shield does a good job of protecting the fingers of curious children. As far as negatives, the only issue we have had is it initially had a very loud squeak when the fan was running. We put up with this for quite some time before finally realizing that a single drop of oil was all it needed. It has run near silently since. If this heater ever needs replacing, we will definitely buy another. In short, if you are loooking to save some money on heating costs I would highly recommend the Chicago Electric Fireplace Heater.
