Write a review of Lakewood space heaters
Lakewood manufactures ceramic, quartz, and convection portable heaters for residential use. Many of their models are electric radiators which look like traditional radiators but are filled with oil. Lakewood also manufactures the Lakewood Economy Radiant LAK-205, a popular economy heater for online buyers. Lakewood heaters are created by Lakewood Engineering and Manufacturing Company, a family owned business, which is no longer in business, even though some products are still available.
Safety Concerns
In April of 2002, Lakewood issued a recall of their electrical heaters in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Electrical connections inside the heater could become loose, energizing the metal frame of the heater. This poses a possibility of electric shock. The heaters were recalled before any injury complaints were reported. Again in January 2005, Lakewood issued a recall with CSPC, this time of their oil-filled electric heaters. Welds could rupture causing the heater to leak hot oil and cause injury to nearby users. Over 30 incidents of this malfunction were reported to Lakewood.
Customer Reviews
Lakewood heaters have several features that make them popular with customers.
- They are cost efficient and use much less energy than central heating or other home heaters.
- Lakewood units are small, clean, and don't require a lot of space.
- Consumers also like the economy price of these heaters. Units are available for as little as $30.
