National-US Radiator BoilersWrite a review of National-US Radiator
National-U.S. Radiator was originally an iron production company that manufactured radiators. Through a series of acquisitions, National U.S. Radiators is now a part of Goodman Manufacturing, which produces air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces and accessories.
Goodman is a member of the Daikin group in Osaka, Japan. Daikin Industries trades on the New York Stock Exchange as DKILF. In 2012, the total HVAC sales of $11.07 billion USD comprised 85.4 percent of its total net sales.
Although it specialized in iron and iron powder production, National Radiators in Johnstown, Pa., also installed electric furnaces. In 1955, it merged with U.S. Radiator to become National-U.S. Radiator. Crane purchased the company in 1960 and ended all Johnstown operations in 1965. As of 1968, Crane ceased production of HVAC products, selling its furnace technology to Amana which is now part of Goodman Manufacturing. From National-U.S. Radiators to Goodman, the company has manufactured heat exchange equipment using a variety of metals, including corrosion-resistant cast-iron units.
As a testament to their durability, National-U.S. products from the 1960s and 70s, such as the All Fuel Boiler, are still found in homes today. Many of its gas and iron boilers were cast iron and sold under the National name brand.
Goodman, which inherited the furnace technology of National-U.S., manufactures a wide variety of air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces and accessories for residential and commercial use, with efficiencies up to 18 SEER. Goodman's most efficient products use the ComfortNet Communication System.
