the brand names Frigidaire, Intertherm, Westinghouse, and Tappan.
The Maytag Corporation (distinct from Nordyne), which markets kitchen appliances, also markets several room air conditioners.
Corporate History
Founded in 1893 by F.L. Maytag in Newton, Iowa, Maytag began as a farm
implement company. Throughout the twentieth century and into the
twenty-first, Maytag evolved into a major appliance enterprise and
acquired several other companies including Jenn-Air (1982) and
Amana (2001). In 1986, Maytag
became the Maytag Corporation. In 1997, Maytag became an Energy Star manufacturing
partner. In 2002, Nordyne licensed the right to market HVAC equipment under the Maytag name.

Nordyne's Maytag central air conditioners are sold with a variety of efficienies, from 13 SEER to 24.5 SEER. Similarly, Maytag heat pumps range
in efficiency from 13 SEER to 22 SEER. Maytag furnaces range in efficiency from 80% AFUE to 97% AFUE.
Room and Portable Air Conditioners
Performa and Jade and offers central, room and portable air conditioners with
low, mid, and high efficiency. They also market low and high efficiency gas
and oil furnaces.
