The company supplies a complete line of heating and cooling systems. While the company distributes a number of brands, it also offers its own line of furnaces, boilers and heat pumps under the Kerr name. It operates throughout Canada under the names Kerr Controls Ltd., RL Fulton Equipment and Kerr Smart Energy Ltd. The company is based in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Corporate History
Kerr was founded by chairman David Kerr Wilson, who began selling and servicing heating systems from the back of a milk truck in 1949. Today, Kerr supplies a variety of heating systems including boilers and furnaces, as well as geothermal and solar systems.
Product Lines
Kerr has a full line of gas and oil-fired furnaces and boilers. They can be used alone or in combination with existing oil or electric systems. The Paradigm condensing oil-fired furnace is Kerr's Energy Star-qualified product, able to achieve up to 95.8 percent AFUE. Kerr's Contour Warm Air lowboy furnace is used to heat larger style homes or small commercial applications. This unit is just 36 inches high and lightweight, making it easy to install. It is air-conditioning ready, and provides 85 percent efficiency. The Kerr Compact line of oil furnaces is designed to suit smaller homes. These units are 86 percent efficient and air-conditioning ready up to three tons. The Summit warm air furnace also is air-conditioning ready, with a welded, chamber-free heat exchanger. The Kerr Scotty wood furnace is suitable to replace any gas, oil, or propane furnace in a small home. The value of this furnace is its ability to reduce fuel costs and as a fuel source replacement. Kerr's heating equipment is sold through a distributor network in the United States and Canada.
