Corporate History

Although Richard Sears founded the company in 1886, the name Kenmore (possibly from Kenmore Avenue in Chicago) did not appear until 1927 as a brand name for laundry appliances. In 1977, the Kenmore name replaced Coldspot as Sears' brand name on air conditioners. Today, Kenmore appliances are sold exclusively through Sears, Sears on-line and retail outlets.

Kenmore's Warranty

Sears offers a full one-year written warranty on installation with the option of purchasing an extended warranty up to ten years. This is in addition to the manufacturer's warranty. Sears also offers protection and/or parts and repair service agreements.
