Heil markets residential and commercial gas furnaces, heat pumps and central air conditioners. The Heil brand name is owned by International Comfort Products (ICP) which markets HVAC products under the brand names of Arcoaire, Clare, Comfortmaker, KeepRite, and Tempstar. ICP is owned by Carrier.
Corporate History
According to a 1964 article in the Milwaukee Journal, Heil was founded in Milwaukee in 1929. The company supplied many of its HVAC products to Sears. In 1957, Heil teamed up with Sears to acquire Florence Stove Co.'s Quaker line of space heaters and Lewisburg, Tenn., manufacturing plant for $5 million. At that time, the Heil (then Heil-Quaker) company headquarters moved from Wisconsin to Tennessee.
Whirlpool Corp. at that time was a major supplier to Sears, and in 1964, Sears sold its majority interest in Heil-Quaker Corp. to Whirlpool Corp. In 1986, Inter-City Gas Corp. (ICP, although today known under the name International Comfort Products), acquired Heil-Quaker Corp. In 1999, Carrier acquired ICP. Today Carrier is owned by United Technologies Corp.
Product Lines
Heil offers a large line ofhigh-efficiency gas and oil furnaces, central air conditioners and heat pumps, and many packaged combinations of those products. Today its air conditioners and heat pumps are sold under the Observer brand name; that brand covers 13 SEER entry models all the way to two-stage, fully communicating, 19 SEER units. Mini split and 13 through 15 SEER packaged systems also are available.
Heil's Observer, QuietComfort and entry series gas furnaces are available in single- and two-stage as well as modulating options, ranging from 80 to 97 percent AFUE. The company uses a Rigid Press Joint heat exchanger in its top-end models. This weld-free component is designed to keep heat moving to the outside surface for maximum heat transfer. Oil furnaces come in single or variable speeds, and several high-efficiency options are available.

Heil offers a limited warranty on all parts that will cover the cost of any part that fails; generally these warranties extend to within ten years of the
installation date, although this varies by individual product. Heat exchangers and other typically carry a longer warranty. Registration is required to
receive the full warranty for your product.
