Today Friedrich says its focus is on residential and commercial room and central air conditioners. The company also has produced heat pumps in the past. Friedrich is privately owned and headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.
Corporate History
Friedrich was founded in 1883 as a furniture company. Founder Ed Friedrich soon shifted from there into refrigeration, with an emphasis on food refrigeration. In 1952 the company expanded its focus to include air conditioning.
Product Lines
Friedrich produces room air conditioners under the brand names Chill, Breeze, WallMaster, Uni-Fit and others. Friedrich sells large output ductless units, such as the packaged terminal air-conditioner (or PTAC), and wall-mount and portable air conditioners as well. In 2010 the company launched Kühl, which it calls a"technologically advanced" commercial-grade room air conditioner.

Friedrich's Warranty
Like most HVAC manufacturers, Friedrich warranties their products against manufacturer defects, but not against
problems caused during installation. Their warranty varies by product, and they typically provide longer warranties
for some components (such as the compressor) than for the unit as a whole. Most systems carry a 1-year parts warranty
and a 5-year warranty for the sealed refrigeration system, including coils and compressors.
