With 14 different models of heat pumps, 12 models of air conditioners and 19 furnaces, Broan HVAC offers a wide selection of energy-efficient split heating and cooling systems. All units are, according to the manufacturer, factory-checked at least 94 times before being shipped.

Corporate History

Henry Broan established Broan Mfg. Co. in 1932 with the development and production of a kitchen fan. In 1981, Broan was acquired by Nortek Inc. and in 2000 Broan Mfg. Co. Inc. became Broan-NuTone LLC following Nortek's 1998 acquisition of NuTone. Nortek's heating and cooling segment in 2011 earned net sales of $378 million.

Headquartered in Hartford, Wis., Broan-NuTone LLC employs more than 2,500 people in eight countries on five continents.

Product Lines

Broan says that its split-system and packaged heat pumps range from the highest in home comfort technology to more basic models. The ultra-efficient units carry up to a 22 SEER and 10 HSPF, while less advanced models in this group offer 13 SEER and 8 HSPF.

High-efficiency units are equipped with features such as inverter-rotary technology, a dehumidification mode and a communication thermostat.

Broan also supplies air conditioners in a complete range of efficiencies. Its top-of-the-line unit reaches 24 SEER and includes unique features such as the company's "iQ drive," which modulates widely to ensure the desired temperature is met at all times. Split-system and packaged units are available in single- and 2-stage cooling.

Finally, Broan also offers a full line of gas and oil furnaces. The gas furnaces range from 80 to 97 percent AFUE, with options such as modulating control, fixed- or multi-speed, and single- or 2-stage operation. Several gas/electric package systems also are available. Eighty percent AFUE is standard for the oil furnaces, which are available in lowboy and downflow configurations, in single or variable speeds.

Environmental Impact

Several of Broan's high-tier heat pumps meet or exceed Energy Star qualifications. Broan also rates units with its EcoLogic Green Seal. Products that carry this seal are regarded as Broan's most efficient and comfortable systems.

All of Broan's heat pumps are equipped with a 10-year warranty on parts. Broan also offers a 10-year Quality Pledge to replace failed compressors. Products must be registered for maximum warranty coverage, including a limited lifetime heat exchanger warranty.
