Airtemp Furnaces and Air ConditionersWrite a review of AIRTEMP
Airtemp manufactures furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, packaged heating and cooling systems. Product lines include a range from high-efficiency units to budget-friendly options. According to the company, all equipment is triple-checked during assembly and computer-tested before shipment.
Airtemp Corp.'s establishment in 1934 was the result of work on the Chrysler Building, created out of cooperation of the Chrysler Engineering staff and inventor Charles Neeson. The building became the first fully air-conditioned skyscraper. In 1936, the new company moved toward developing cooling systems for railroad cars, but was reabsorbed back into the Chrysler Corp. as an air-conditioning manufacturer in 1938. It remained a segment of the Chrysler Corp. until its acquisition by another HVAC corporation, Fedders, in 1975.
Today, Airtemp products are manufactured by Nordyne. Since 2012 they have been sold exclusively through R.E. Michel Co. Inc.
Airtemp's product lines include a variety of air conditioners, heat pumps, oil and gas furnaces, air handlers, coils and packaged systems for residential use. The company categorizes its cooling units and heat pumps as standard, high efficiency and highest-efficiency models. Furnaces are separated into best, better and premium efficiency categories. Products in the highest category are generally Energy Star-approved.
Aside from using the eco-friendly R-410 refrigerant in its cooling and heat pump units, Airtemp does not make any claims of environmental impact of its units. However, Nordyne, the manufacturer of the Airtemp product, produces a line of green systems designed to be as eco-friendly as possible. These models carry Nordyne's ecoLogic seal and are all Energy Star-approved and use R-410 refrigerant. In addition, the furnaces produce low nitrous oxide emissions.
