live in Mid-West and travel to south in winter months. For the past 10 years, I always set it at 53. Now it seems I will pay more in heating bill. It seems to me it is a design defect? Don't know what to do.

This question was created on the page: http://www.furnacecompare.com/furnaces/lennox/slp98v.html.

Lennox dealer told me the new furnace SLP98 must set at above 60 in winter months when away and fan must be on all the time. I live in Michigan during summer months and South in winter. For the past 12 years, I set my old furnace at 53-55F when away and never experienced any problems. I installed SLP98 to save my energy bill, now I end up having to spend more on a vacant home. It seems to be a product flaw. I need verification...
