I was able to find the following here: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/appliances/heating-cooling-and-air/gas-furnaces-703/overview/index.htm.

"The two major manufacturers of gas furnaces are United Technology (Carrier, Bryant, Heil, Tempstar, and Comfortmaker brands) and Goodman (Janitrol and Amana). Other brands include Rheem (Ruud), American Standard (Trane), and Lennox (Armstrong). All offer furnaces in a range of capacities and efficiencies, and we think manufacturers generally deliver on those specifications. Each brand offers a generally similar array of key features."

I also found the following here: http://www.heatinghelp.com/forum-thread/91059/Who-makes-what-brand-gas-furnace.

"International Comfort Products. Along with Tempstar and Heil they also manuf. Carrier. Its similar to G.M.C which has Chevy, Saturn and many others under it's name. Daimler Chrysler has Dodge Plymouth etc. Theres not a whole lot of difference in product specs for forced air furnaces...

"Lennox owns Armstrong, but they are not the same. American Standard and Trane are the same. Same quality and efficiencies. Trane offers a few more products than A/S. Find a piece of Trane literature. On the back it says a division of A/S. Carrier and Bryant-same as A/S and Trane situation."

I hope this helps.
