My system is not running. I set the thermostat, it doesn't come on, no fan sound, no nothing. I want to try to relight the pilot light,

NOthing happens whenI set the thermostat. No sound, no heat. I have replaced the batteries in the thermostat, checked the braker box. Where would I look tofind the pilot light! Could it be out?

If the furnace isn't working at all and you have checked the obvious--fuse box and thermostat--then it is more than likely a safety function has been tripped and the furnace is in a lock out mode so that it won't start to prevent a dangerous situation from occurring. This could mean you have everything from a dirty filter blocking air flow to an issue with nearly anything else.

This furnace likely has a diagnostic LED display or a series of red and green lights that you can find on the furnace. Either of this will display an error code, which will provide a general sense of what the problem is. I've pasted general Trane error codes below for you.

Flashing Slow Normal - No call for Heat from thermostat

Flashing Fast Normal - Call for Heat from thermostat

Continuous ON Control Board Bad - needs replaced

Continuous OFF Check Power

2 Flashes System Lockout (Retries or Recycles exceeded)

3 Flashes Vent Pressure Switch Error

4 Flashes Open High Temperature Limit Device

5 Flashes Flame sensed when no flame should be present

Flashing Slow Normal - No call for Heat from thermostat

Flashing Fast Normal - Call for Heat from thermostat
