My inducer motor is starting to squeel - does it need to be replaced?Post created: 2013-02-19 Type of Equipment: Furnace Views: 29This question was created on the page: http://www.furnacecompare.com/furnaces/carrier/weathermaker-9200.html. The inducer motor sometimes makes a squealing noise and gets very warm. Should I get it replaced? On 2013-02-21 JB wrote: Probably. If it seizes up then you will have to wait for a repair before you can get heat going again and while it shouldn't be too big of a job, you may not want to wait in the cold.
A good HVAC tech will also tell you if he thinks there is a fix for the current one, but a squealing noise indicates there is friction between moving parts and that is not good.
To keep legal happy, let me just say that I am not an HVAC contractor, and you should never even look at your furnace without having a qualified, liability accepting HVAC contractor present. Also, if it is getting very warm it very likely is about to seize.
