Heat pump to be installed with existing oil furnace

Have a 16 year old ThermoPride oil furnace.
Would like to have a heat pump installed. Electric requirements, space requirements?
Oil furnace would remain as backup heat.
I can not find information. My furnace man is pretty vague and worthless.
