1 had a amana amv9 96% ver speed gas furnace put in the filter size is 12x25x1 should it have been bigger

The furnace is 4 years old the filter size was left the same as was in the old furnace 12x25x1 when i go on the internet to order filters for the new furnace they show a bigger filter is the 12x25x1 doing me a good job or should i have it changed
