The furnace does have power but it will not turn on. What should I check?

The furnace is 17 years old. I turned on the furnace for the first time since last May, 2011. The furnace makes a small humming noise you can hear if you are very very quite. The front black round motor is very very hot. You can't hold you fingers on the motor. It makes no other sound and does not heat. What do I need to do?
