About Germantown
Germantown, Wisconsin is situated in the southeast part of the state, 30 minutes from the city of Milwaukee and Lake Michigan. The town was established by Johann Philipp Dhein in 1842, and was then called Dheinsville. His family was followed by other immigrants from the Hunsruck Mountains of Germany. It is now the smallest town in Wisconsin, after the village of Germantown annexed most of its land. This annexation protected the larger town of Germantown against the suburban spread of Milwaukee.
