About Bothell

Bothell, Washington is a city made up of several distinct neighborhoods on the Sammamish River just outside of Seattle. It straddles two counties (King County and Snohomish County), which means that most streets in Bothell have two names, one in each county. Bothell began as a commercial logging settlement in the 1870s. The industry boomed in the area for a while, but declined sharply when Lake Washington was lowered in 1917. As the logging economy flagged in Bothell, farming became the main local industry. Because of its close proximity to Seattle, many residents of Bothell commute back and forth to work in Seattle. Bothell is home to 2007 American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis. The City of Bothell Freedom Festival is a two-day celebration of American Independence each summer, featuring a 4th of July parade and a battle reenactment on the Bothell Landing Bridge.
