About Pasadena

Pasadena is a city located southeast of Houston in Harris County, Texas. The city is surrounded by the Houston Ship Channel on the north. The southeastern most part of the city is bordered by Galveston Bay. Normal average summer temperature in the city is around 80 degrees fahrenheit and average winter temperature is around 50° F. Pasadena was founded in 1893 by John H. Burnett of Galveston. He named the city after Pasadena, CA's lush, flowering greenery.

The city holds an annual "Strawberry Festival" to honor the fact that Clara Barton of the American Red Cross sent 1.5 million strawberry plants to Pasadena to help victims of the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 get back on their feet.
