About Yankton

Yankton, South Dakota, is the county seat of Yankton County. It is located along the Missouri River on South Dakota's southern border, about 40 miles southwest of Sioux Falls. Its population was 13,528 as of the 2000 census. Known as the River City, the site of Yankton was visited by Lewis and Clark over 200 years ago.
