About Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls is located in eastern South Dakota near the borders of Minnesota, Nebraska, and Iowa. The city lies in the Big Sioux River Valley and is the county seat of Minnehaha County. It was founded in 1856 and affected by the regional Dakota War in 1862 that resulted from more white settlers moving into the region. The population of white settlers grew drastically in the 1880s.
