Aberdeen, South Dakota, is the county seat and largest city in Brown County and the third largest city in the state with just over 24,000 people as of 2006. The town is about 30 miles south of the North Dakota border, and about 125 miles northeast of the state capital of Pierre. Sioux Indians have inhabited the area since 1700.
