About York

York is located in south central Pennsylvania. It has a population of around 40,000 people and is the county seat of York County. York was settled by whites in 1741 and was incorporated as a city in 1887. It was the original home of the York Peppermint Pattie when it that candy was created in 1940. Today it is the home of the USA Weightlifting Hall of Fame and a large Harley-Davidson motorcycle factory.
