About Upper Arlington
The city of Upper Arlington is located in Franklin County, Ohio, near the Scioto and Olentangy Rivers. Originally the site of a farm, in 1913, the area was envisioned by the Thompson brothers as a “country club” suburb of northern Columbus. Their plans went awry when the area was used as a training camp for the National Guard in 1916, but by 1918, the village was formed. The suburb is designed as a garden city, with curving streets and many trees. The city was incorporated in 1931. Its most famous native is professional golfer Jack Nicklaus. The high temperatures in summer average near 82 degrees. In winter, the high temperatures average about 30 degrees. The average annual precipitation is about 40 inches.
