About North Olmsted
North Olmsted is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Originally this land was a section of the Connecticut Western Reserve. It was purchased by a sea captain named Aaron Olmstead, and settlement began in 1815. It is located along the Rocky River, 10 miles south of Cleveland and 15 miles from Lake Erie. The city began to grow rapidly in 1950, when people sought to move out of the Greater Cleveland area into nearby suburbs. North Olmsted is notable for owning the first municipal bus line (which merged with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority in 2005), and for being the burial place of Lewis Urry, inventor of alkaline and lithium batteries. In January, the coldest part of the winter, average temperatures range between 19 and 33 degrees. In July, average temperatures range from 62 to 81 degrees. The annual participation is 47.5 inches.
