About Saratoga Springs
Saratoga Springs, New York is located in the southeastern part of New York, just north of Albany. It lies in the Adirondack Mountains and is on Saratoga Lake. The area was first settled by the Iroquois and named Sarachtogue, meaning "swift water." It became Saratoga County in 1791. One of the most famous attractions here are two mineral springs, Ballston Spa and Saratoga Springs. These spas were very fashionable with the wealthy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which made the area affluent.
