About North Gates
The community of North Gates is a part of the larger town of Gates, New York and is located in Monroe County. The original land for the town was divided, and the other part of that land is now known as the city of Rochester. After nine annexations, North Gates has become the smallest town in Monroe County. The average temperature is 78 degrees in the summer months and 33 degrees in the winter months. The population was estimated to be 28,486 in 2006. North Gates was incorporated in 1813 in honor of General Horatio Gates, who was instrumental in the Americans' victory at the Battle of Saratoga during the Revolutionary War.
