About Mastic Beach
Mastic Beach is a hamlet located on the Atlantic in the southeast part of the Town of Brookhaven, in Suffolk County, New York. Two generations after landing on Long Island in 1640, the English fully controlled Mastic Beach. During the Revolution, the British took control of Long Island and the Smith family house in Mastic Beach became Fort St. George, a key military outpost for the British that was destroyed by rebel patriots in November 1780. Modern-day Mastic Beach has about 11,543 residents. Mastic Beach's average temperature during the summer is about 75 degrees. In the winter, the average temperature is 34. The community gets about 50 inches of precipitation annually.
