Manorville, New York, is a hamlet within the town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York. Its population totaled about 11,100 as of the 2000 Census. Manorville is at the western edge of Long Island's pine barrens, and has been settled by Europeans and their descendants since the 1690s when it was awarded to Colonel William "Tangier" Smith. The town is halfway between the shores of Long Island, and sits on some of the hilliest terrain on the island. The town's weather is slightly warmer than most of Long Island, with average January highs of 39 degrees and lows of 24 degrees. July highs average 84 degrees, and July lows average 65 degrees. The hamlet receives 46 inches of precipitation each year, with slightly more occurring in winter and spring than in the rest of the year.
