About Derry Village
Derry Village is an outlying region of Derry, NH. Derry has a population of around thirty-five thousand, about ten thousand of which live in or near Derry Village. Derry itself has in the past been a textile -- especially linen -- producer, though agriculture has played a minor part in supporting its economy.
Derry Village (as well as Derry proper) is today largely a commuter community, with most residents working in nearby Manchester and Boston or their surrounding metropolitan areas. Derry Village also has several retirement communities, and its residential focus with little business or industry makes it a popular settling place for Massachusetts and New Hampshire retirees wanting to stay in the area.
