Heating Contractors in North Carolina
Browse Heating Contractors in all states
North Carolina is a large state geographically, and has a population of almost 9 million. The state has
distinct seasons, with hot summers, mild springs and cool winters. Cool temperatures and
occasional snow keep the heating industry is alive and well in the state.
And as a state with one of the country's fastest growing populations, the North Carolina heating
market will certainly continue to grow.
Most of the time heating system installation and maintenance goes smoothly, but occasionally homeowners
have a problem and need outside help to get it resolved. Consumers with complaints about their heating
contractors in North Carolina can research
or file complaints through the Better Business Bureau that serves their part of the state:
Northwest North Carolina, Eastern North
Carolina, or the Western portion of the state.
As in many other states, heating contractors in North Carolina must be licensed. The licenses are
granted after an application fee has been paid and the applicant has passed a licensing exam. PSI
Examination Services administers the tests for a fee of $50. The fee covers one exam for one contracting
specialty. For an unlimited license, the fee is $100. There is also an intermediate license exam available
for $75. The fees include the license fees for the first year the license is held, ending on December 31st.
Additional license fees must be paid each year.
The state has a license reciprocity agreement with South Carolina, allowing contractors from that state
to get a license in North Carolina without paying the exam fee. They do, however, have to pay the yearly
license fee.
