About Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph, Missouri, is located in the northwestern part of the state on the Missouri River. The climate is warm during summer with average temperatures in the 70's and very cold in winter with average temperatures tend to be in the 20's. The warmest month of the year is July, with an average high of 90 degrees, while the coldest month is January with an average low of 16 degrees. The annual average precipitation is 35 inches. St. Joseph was founded in 1843 on the site of a fur trading post. At one time, the city was the westernmost point on the rail lines and the easternmost terminus of the Pony express. Today, St. Joe (as it is known) is the seventh largest city in Missouri and the county seat for Buchanan County.
