About Rosemount
The City of Rosemount is 15 miles south of the Twin Cities Metropolitan area. In January 1971 the village and township of Rosemount merged. Rosemount was built on land once inhabited by the Lower Band Mdewakanton of the Santee Sioux tribe. An 1851 treaty turned the land over to the US government. The first European settlers in Rosemount were Scots, and today the largest number of residents identify their ancestry as German. The average winter temperature ranges from 7 to 21 degrees; the average summer temperature ranges from 61 to 81 degrees. Rosemount's eastern side is home to many industrial companies, including Flint Hills Resources (formerly Koch Refinery), SKB (industrial waste containment facility), Spectro Alloys, and Continental Nitrogen. The western one-third of the city includes businesses such as Greif Brothers and the regional home base for the National Guard. The city also opened an 80-acre business park in 1995 with tenants such as Cannon Equipment, Geometrix, and Webb Business Promotions, Inc.
