About Austin
Austin is the county seat of Mower County in the southeastern part of Minnesota. It has a population of about 24,000 people. The town has two man-made lakes, Mill Pond and East Side Lake. The town of Austin was originally settled along the Cedar River and is also known as Spam Town USA because it is home to Hormel Foods Corporation, which produces SPAM canned meat. It is also the largest employer in town.
