Romulus, Michigan, is located about 10 miles southwest of Detroit, in Wayne County. The Census Bureau estimated its population at 24,137 in 2006. Romulus was organized as a township in 1835, and served as a stop on the historic Underground Railroad that helped slaves escape to Canada. The city contains several heavy industrial facilities and hosts Detroit's international airport. Romulus's climate is typical of southern Michigan.
