About Eastpointe
Eastpointe, Michigan is a blue-collar suburb of Detroit. Its history is controversial. It used to be known as East Detroit, but in 1992 the town voted to be re-named Eastpointe. Some say this was an attempt to distance itself from Detroit. Its main boundary with Detroit is 8 Mile Road, which was made famous in the rapper Eminem's movie "Eight Mile." Eastpointe's temperature averages in the 20s in winter and in the upper 70s and lower 80s in the summer. It has a number of small shops and is in close proximity to Eastland shopping center, a large mall.
