About Topsham
The woods and waters that surround it define Topsham, Maine. Topsham is located in the heart of the Mid-Coast area of the state and borders Merrymeeting Bay. The town encompasses nearly 44 square miles and is a suburban residential community with a growing business base. Historic neighborhoods and houses can be found in many areas around town. Parts of town are marked by fields, open farmland, and striking views of the bay. The village was named after Topsham, England, because many of its founders came from that country. Summer months average low temperatures from about 60 to 65 degrees and high temperatures from 80-95 degrees. Winter months can bring temperatures as low as -20 degrees and as high as 50 degrees. The town was incorporated in 1764.
