About Kennebunk
Kennebunk, Maine has an average temperature of 65 degrees in the summer months and 26 degrees in the winter. It is situated on the southwestern coast of the state, about 90 miles north of Boston and 25 miles south of Portland. It is a quiet, small, coastal town with a population of a little over 10,000. It was only recently made popular as the summer vacation home of the former President George H. W. Bush. It has since grown into a popular vacation spot for wealthy and affluent people. Visitors to Kennebunk can also take a short trip to nearby Kittery to shop at various outlet retailers. Kennebunk was originally inhabited by Native Americans until 1614, when Captain John Smith started a large fishing industry in the area. Agriculture and shipbuilding were other successful early industries. The influx of new residents was briefly broken by skirmishes with the Indians in the mid-to-late 1600s, but the population of modern-day Kennebunk is still growing at a rapid rate.
