About Frankfort
Frankfort, Illinois is located 35 miles SW of Chicago. It's about an hour's drive from both Midway and O'Hare airports. The average temperature in the summer is 74 degrees. The average temperature in the winter is 37 degrees. Frankfort is believed to be named after Frankfurt am Main in Germany. It was commonly known as "Frankfort Station" after the opening of the Joliet and Northern Indiana Railroad through the township in 1855. The local residents incorporated as a village in 1879 and after that the town was simply known as Frankfort.
