About West Cedar Rapids
West Cedar Rapids is a largely-residential district comprising the northwestern quadrant of the city of Cedar Rapids. Cedar Rapids itself is the county seat of Linn County in the eastern part of Iowa. A large city in its own right -- second only to Des Moines -- it supports a population of almost one hundred thirty thousand.
Its climate is typically Midwestern, with summer highs usually around the mid-eighties and winter lows in the mid-teens. The city has largely been supported by manufacturing and light industry in the past, but today a modern, diversified economy has taken root and shifted the city's economic foundations to education (Cedar Rapids is home to six colleges and universities), construction, and health care.
