About Mason City

Mason City, Iowa is located in Northern Iowa, about 120 miles north of Des Moines. Mason City is home to the largest group of Prairie School homes (those whose architecture follows the standards of the Prairie School movement characterized by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, among others) in a natural setting in the world. On the 75th anniversary of Mason City, the first North Iowa Band Festival was held here, and Mason City still hosts this annual event.
