Bettendorf, Iowa is located on the Iowa and Illinois border. This city is a bedroom community of Davenport. The average winter temperatures are typically in the low 20s and in summer the average temperature is in the low-to-mid-70s. Bettendorf has several golf courses. Notable ones are Sunrise, Glenroads, and Hidden Hills. The Bettendor Famiy Museum of Arts and Sciences has a wide range of interactive exhibits that are designed for all ages. On permanent display is Amazing Acres, a weather activity, and Watts Up, an exploration into energy. Originally purchased from the Sac and Fox Indians, this area was part of the Wisconsin Territory. William and Joseph Bettendorf were given 70 acres around 1900. This was on the condition that they move their iron wagon business from the town of Davenport. The townspeople petitioned for incorporation in 1903 and the community was named after William and Joseph.
